Bridgetown, 麻豆传媒官网 August 9th, 2017 (CDEMA) 鈥� The Department of Disaster Management (DDM) in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) is currently coordinating cleanup and recovery operations post a flash flood event in the BVI on August 7 and 8, 2017. The flash flooding was caused by heavy rainfall from a Tropical Wave. Rainfall in excess of eight inches was recorded in certain areas. The Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Services issued a flash flood warning for the BVI the evening of August 7, 2017 and it remained in effect up till 2:00 p.m. August 8, 2017.

Bridgetown, 麻豆传媒官网 July 24th, 2017 (CDEMA) 鈥� The importance of partnerships in building a more resilient region against the impact of disasters was the highlight at the official launch ceremony of the 10th Caribbean Conference on Comprehensive Disaster Management (CDM10). The launch was held on June 30th 2017 at the Melia Nassau Beach Resort in Nassau, The Bahamas.
Proposals for presentations are invited to be featured at the 10th Caribbean Conference on Comprehensive Disaster Management (CDM10) during the Concurrent Sessions and the Film Festival.
Presentations should be based on the Conference theme 鈥淭he Road to Resilience: CDM Check Point 2017 鈥� Building Resilience through Partnerships鈥�, and relevant to one of the four (4) Priority Areas of the CDM Strategy 2014-2024: (1) Institutional Strengthening (2) Knowledge Management (3) Sector Mainstreaming (4) Community Resilience. Prospective presenters should carefully review the information provided in the Call for Presentations and then submit their abstract via email. The deadline for submissions is July 28, 2017 at 11:59pm EST.
